Penn’s NCL Cruise Perk

One of the best status-based perks offered by Penn is the free or discounted cruise benefit with Norwegian Cruise Line. This post will give you a little general information about the cruise program. Now, before you get too excited about the “free” cruise, know that there are still some costs. Read to the end for that part.

Your cruise benefit/discount by tier. This is an annual perk. Info from the Penn Play website.

For more information, or to book a cruise using your benefit, call NCL’s Casinos at Sea at 877-571-6980

  • Owner’s Club – Free 7-Day cruise in a Balcony stateroom with a $100 F&B credit
  • Elite – Free 7-Day cruise in an Oceanview stateroom with a $50 F&B credit. Also, 20% off any other fare.
  • Preferred (Over 25K points) – Free 7-Day cruise in an Inside stateroom. Also 15% off any other fare.
  • Preferred (Under 25K points) – No free cruise, but you get the 15% off.
  • Advantage – 10% off your cruise fare.

The goal here is for NCL to get qualified players on board their vessels and get them in their Casinos At Sea (CAS) program. Once you get on board and give them any kind of real play, you will likely get many free or discounted offers to return, regardless of your your Penn tier level. I have a friend who participates in a similar program through Royal Caribbean, and he can pretty much cruise anytime he wants, for free.

So, about that free part… Even for free cruises, you are responsible for the admin fee, port fees, and taxes. These costs vary depending on how many ports you visit, where you sail from, etc. Also, if you want to upgrade your stateroom category or location, this will cost you a little extra.

More about the NCL experience in the next post.
